| ALNO - back in the black
ALNO, the manufacturer of kitchen furniture, moved back into profit this year for the first time since 1995. The company has disclosed that during the first half of 2004, the Group’s Earnings Before Tax (EBT) amounted to 3.7 million EUR as compared to minus 3.8 million EUR in the same period of the previous year. According to the company, the reason for this positive result is the realignment of the Group that was initiated in 2002. Within two years, the company maintains, costs were reduced by 73 million EUR while order intake rose. As a result, the company’s order intake for Germany has exceeded that of the market sector as a whole by an average of 35%. Turnover rose by 80% to 324 million EUR during the first half of this year, although here the takeover of the Casawell Group and the various disposals (in the form of sales and closures) of the past year must be taken into consideration. Operational cash flow has also risen by 24.4 (6.9) million EUR in comparison to that of the same period last year. ALNO According to its own statements, this leaves ALNO among the world’s leading producers of kitchen furniture.
